World No. 1 Arturo Coello Sets Up in Miami, A Game-Changer for U.S. Padel.

January 8, 2025

The United States continues to position itself as a cornerstone for padel’s global expansion, and its momentum just received a significant boost. World number one Arturo Coello has officially announced his relocation to Miami, where he will train at the Reserve Padel facilities when not competing on the circuit.

The move underscores a broader push by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and Premier Padel to bring the sport to the forefront of the North American market. Efforts are already underway to secure a 2025 tournament on U.S. soil, marking a pivotal step in padel’s globalization journey.

In sharing his excitement, Coello stated:
“Miami and Reserve Padel will be my future residence and home this year 2025. I am thrilled to share this news with you all. Along with my team, we have made the decision to come to the United States because we firmly believe in the expansion of the sport. This country offers numerous opportunities, not only to boost the sport’s growth but also to enable an ideal lifestyle for a professional athlete.”

Coello emphasized the strategic benefits of living in the U.S.:
“Many sporting figures have chosen this place to live, as it allows for the perfect balance between developing my game and personal growth. We are very pleased with the decision we’ve made and excited about the experiences we will have.”

The move also highlights Miami’s growing status as a hub for elite athletes. Coello has already been spotted with global sports icons such as Sergio Busquets, Paul Pogba, Jimmy Butler, and Kevin Love—the latter appearing alongside padel legend Juan Martín Díaz, who also resides in Florida. These interactions further reinforce Miami’s reputation as a magnet for talent and opportunity.

While padel has seen explosive growth internationally, particularly in Europe and Latin America, the North American market remains relatively untapped. Industry leaders and stakeholders view the U.S. as a fertile ground for expansion, with its established sports culture, strong investment ecosystem, and growing appetite for new recreational activities.

Coello’s relocation is more than just a personal move—it’s a strategic play to grow the sport’s footprint. As he trains and competes, his presence in the U.S. could attract new sponsors and investors, creating a ripple effect that accelerates the sport’s development in the region.

With plans for a Premier Padel tournament in 2025, the U.S. is primed to become a focal point for international competitions. Coello’s decision to base himself in Miami may inspire other professional players to follow suit, further anchoring the sport in North America.

Coello expressed gratitude for the support he’s received, particularly highlighting Wayne Boich for his role in making this transition possible. As the ‘King’ of padel begins this new chapter, the global padel community will be watching closely to see how his presence shapes the sport’s trajectory in the United States.
