WME Sports has announced the launch of a new division dedicated to padel, as reported by the Sports Business Journal. This division will focus on talent representation and brand consulting, and it’s already making waves by signing its first big name: World Padel Tour’s No. 1 ranked player, Arturo Coello.
At just 21, Coello is the youngest player ever to top the WPT rankings. Retaining his manager, Miguel Sánchez, Coello expressed his excitement: “WME Sports represents some of the most successful athletes across the globe and will allow me to take my brand to the next level.”
The new padel group at WME Sports will be led by directors Hernan Auguste and Daniel Dios. Auguste, a former No. 1-ranked padel player, brings extensive experience from his roles as international manager of the WPT, chief padel officer at LeDap Group, and head of international relations for MejorSet Padel Courts. Dios, who has consulted for LeDap and served as international sales director for Notrick Planner and CEO of Padel Trainer, joins him in this new venture.
Reporting to IMG’s SVP/Head of Tennis Clients Max Eisenbud, Auguste and Dios will leverage resources and synergies with IMG’s tennis vertical to enhance WME’s padel offerings. IMG’s tennis division represents top tennis stars like Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek, and the collaboration aims to bring similar success to the padel scene.
