The 2024 FIP World Padel Championships concluded with impressive results for the US National Team, as both the men’s and women’s teams showcased their skills and determination against some of the world’s best. Held from October 28 to November 2 at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in Doha, the event featured six days of intense competition, with the US teams securing top-15 placements on the global stage.
Competing against powerhouse nations like Argentina, Belgium, Portugal, and Denmark, the US National Team proved their resilience, claiming hard-fought victories against strong opponents including Egypt, Germany, and Paraguay. Throughout the tournament, the players not only demonstrated their abilities but also gained invaluable experience on the international padel stage.
In the women’s division, the team achieved a notable win over Germany in their final match, securing a 15th-place finish. Key players, including Brittany Dubins, Marta Morga Alonso, Carla Rodriguez Sanchez, and Dani Ruiz Alvarez, delivered standout performances, with Dubins and Alonso winning their final match 6-1, 6-4. The men’s team also ended on a high note, avenging an earlier loss to Mexico with wins from Vinny Di Francesco, Will Agritelley, Matias Segura, and Nico Agritelley, finishing the tournament in 13th place.
Reflecting on their performance, US Women’s Team Head Coach Richy Bailey praised his players for their “passion and unity” and highlighted the growing bond among the team. Men’s Team Head Coach Luis Fernando Ramirez emphasized the commitment of his players, saying, “We fought hard, securing key wins and growing together as a team.”
The players also shared their pride and appreciation for representing the US. Brittany Dubins called it a “dream come true,” noting, “We battled against the best teams in the world… all while representing Team USA.” Rising star Vinny Di Francesco expressed his excitement about sharing the global stage, and Nico Agritelley emphasized the honor of playing “for something bigger than ourselves.”
The experience in Doha has solidified the US National Team’s place in the world of padel and highlighted the dedication of American players. With new achievements and renewed energy, Team USA looks forward to future tournaments as they continue to elevate the profile of padel back home.
