For one unforgettable weekend, padel took center stage at one of the most prestigious tennis events in the world. The Publix Padel Cup brought the high-energy, fast-paced sport to the 2025 Miami Open, turning Hard Rock Stadium into a playground where tennis and padel collided in spectacular fashion.

With a glass-walled court set up for public play, thousands of tennis fans got their first taste of padel, quickly learning that while it may look easy, the game demands serious skill—and delivers even more fun. “At one point on Saturday, the stadium stands were completely filled, and there were five-people-deep rows watching from the side. For many, it was their first time seeing padel,” said Jared Finklestein, Padel Evangelist and Special On-Court Correspondent.

While fans were busy discovering the joys of padel, the tournament itself was delivering top-tier action. Juan Manuel Vasquez & Jose Carlos Gaspar Campos took home the Open Division 1 title after a commanding 6-2, 7-6 victory over Rodrigo Coello & Vinny Di Francesco in the finals. The women’s draw saw Brittany Dubins & Laura Luján dominate their way to a championship, defeating Luicelena Perez & Anna Cortiles 6-3, 6-1 in the final match.

Beyond the competition, the Publix Padel Cup was a historic moment for the sport. Placed alongside the Miami Open’s world-class tennis action, it offered an unparalleled crossover experience, blending two of the world’s fastest-growing racquet sports on a single stage.

“For this week, padel players were playing matches with Novak warming up two courts away,” Finklestein added, emphasizing the surreal nature of padel’s inclusion at such a major event.

This event wasn’t just a showcase—it was a statement. Charles Messow, Co-Founder & CEO of RedPadel, called it a defining moment: “It was a truly memorable event for all and a privilege to be able to showcase padel at a prestigious tennis tournament like the Miami Open. RedPadel is fortunate to have partners like IMG and the USPA to make such events possible. We are hopeful that it is the first of many.”

The timing couldn’t have been better. With Premier Padel’s P1 debut in the U.S. and RacquetX bringing together the global racquet sports industry, the past two weeks in Miami have cemented padel as a force to be reckoned with in the American sports scene.

Padel’s presence at the Miami Open is yet another sign that its growth in the U.S. is accelerating at full speed. From a sold-out Premier Padel event to the Publix Padel Cup drawing massive crowds, the sport is proving it has the star power and appeal to thrive on the biggest stages.

If this weekend was any indication, padel’s future in the U.S. isn’t just promising—it’s inevitable.
