The padel industry is booming, and at the forefront of its evolution is Polar X Padel, a company dedicated to premium padel club development and cutting-edge court solutions. At its helm is Ervin Eleskovic, a former ATP tennis player turned visionary entrepreneur, who is now driving the sport forward with innovation and expertise. We sat down with Ervin to discuss his journey from professional tennis to padel, the mission behind Polar X Padel, and what the future holds for this rapidly growing sport.

For Eleskovic, the transition from tennis to padel was both personal and professional.

“After suffering an injury that forced me to step away from tennis, I was searching for another sport that would keep me active,” he shared. “I came across padel, which is incredibly fun, dynamic, and social. I first tried it with my fiancée and son, and immediately, I saw its potential—not just as a player, but as a future business.”

His first encounter with padel dates back to 2009 in Båstad, Sweden, where an ATP tournament was being held. A pilot padel court had been set up near the beach, sparking his curiosity.

“We looked at it and thought, ‘What is this?’ It looked fun, and when I tried it, I was hooked. Over time, I saw the sport explode in Sweden, and many of my former tennis colleagues became national players and coaches.”

This exposure laid the foundation for what would eventually become Polar X Padel.

Eleskovic’s journey from player to business leader was fueled by a desire to elevate padel clubs globally. His company, Polar X Padel, offers end-to-end solutions for clubs—from concept design to full-scale construction and management.

“Initially, the focus was on building high-quality courts that prioritize the player experience. But as we grew, we saw a demand for a complete solution—not just courts, but club management, branding, and programming,” he explained.

The name Polar X Padel was inspired by the diverse climates and challenges that padel courts must endure.

“We thought about different weather conditions—wind, hurricanes, extreme climates—so ‘Polar’ felt like a strong name. Our creative director then added the ‘X’ for a more modern and bold identity.”

Today, the company offers tailor-made solutions for clubs looking to enter or expand in the padel space, making it a one-stop shop for investors and entrepreneurs

With padel’s meteoric rise worldwide, Eleskovic sees Polar X Padel playing a major role in the sport’s long-term growth.

“We’re focused on building an ecosystem—not just courts, but an entire experience. It’s not enough to just set up two courts; clubs need to create an atmosphere that keeps players coming back,” he said. “From design and landscaping to club programming, everything matters.”

Polar X Padel’s key innovation is being a full-service approach, providing tailored end-to-end solutions that include project management, court design, construction and coaching which the clients can pick and choose from. This level of flexibility and customization positions them as a unique and dynamic partner in the industry.

Eleskovic also hinted at exciting projects, including hurricane-resistant floating padel courts, which are set to be a visual and engineering marvel.

“We’re always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what padel clubs can be,” he added.

Every entrepreneurial journey has its challenges, and Polar X Padel was no exception.

“One of the biggest challenges was educating stakeholders on the value of investing in padel,” Eleskovic shared. “For existing tennis clubs, padel offers an incredible opportunity to boost member engagement and revenue. But it takes time to shift mindsets.”

He emphasized the importance of having a clear vision, strong community partnerships, and listening to the needs of players.

“The key is to build clubs that people want to return to—where they feel inspired to play, train, and connect with others.”

Looking ahead, Eleskovic envisions padel becoming an Olympic sport, which would solidify its global status.

“There are various requirements for padel to be included in the Olympics. We’re on track to meet that, and it would be a game-changer for the sport,” he explained.

Beyond that, he sees club experiences evolving, with high-end facilities, integrated wellness programs, and new tech-driven coaching methods becoming the norm.

“It’s not just about playing—it’s about creating an environment where players want to spend their time before and after their matches,” he said.

For those looking to enter the padel business, Eleskovic had some key advice:

Focus on player experience – Build facilities that people genuinely enjoy.
Invest in strong programming – Keep players engaged with coaching, events, and social elements.
Understand your market – Know what your local players want and tailor your club’s offerings accordingly.
Have a clear vision – Like any great business, success in padel requires passion and commitment.

“Love what you do and live and breathe the sport. If you build something truly special, people will come.”
