The Philippine Padel Association (PPA) is making history as they gear up for the Asia-Africa Qualifiers for the World Padel Championship from September 22 to 27 in Kuwait. This marks the first time the Philippines will participate in an official International Padel Federation (FIP) competition.
PPA president Allena Dawn Magpantay announces that this marks the first time the Philippines will participate as a team in a competition by the International Padel Federation (FIP).
Led by team captains Jessica Agra (Women’s) and Ryan Cater (Men’s), the teams have been intensively training at Manila Padel Club, supported by MartinX Academy and Argentine coach Martin Noschese. Agra, ranked No. 1 in the Pacific Padel Tour (APPT) women’s division, shared her excitement: “The competition will be fierce, but we believe in our team’s potential and are ready to give it our all.”
The Women’s Team, comprising Jessica Agra, Anna Christine Patrimonio, Jessica Lucas, Alessa Marie Belbes, Rovy Conle Castillo, and Michelle Rose Dickson, aims to secure a spot in the finals of the FIP World Padel Championships in Doha. Similarly, the Men’s Team, including John Michael Tamayo, Jaybee Buenaventura, Timothy Peter Berry, Alexander Jr. Borela, and Arnel Burden, is poised to showcase their talents on the global stage.
The PPA’s presence is firmly established with top-tier sponsors such as K-Swiss, Rudy Project, Philippine Airlines, and Wheyl providing crucial support. Furthermore, the Philippine Padel Association is set to host the first-ever FIP tournament in Manila from November 11 to 17, a major milestone in the country’s padel journey.
