In Part 2 of our exclusive interview with George Modler, he talks about Padel Directory, its inception, and how it quickly became the go-to website for padel enthusiasts across the UK. Read Part 1 here.
Launched in June 2024, the Padel Directory has quickly established itself as the definitive resource for all things padel in the UK. From clubs and coaches to equipment and events, the platform offers a comprehensive hub that connects players, businesses, and enthusiasts like never before.
“The Padel Directory is a website that essentially covers all bases in the sport,” George explained. “From clubs or centers to court installers, wholesale brands, retail brands, coaches, events, holidays, job vacancies, information guides, and anything else for padel, our website is the hub, all in one place.”
The platform’s success is reflected in its impressive metrics: over 150,000 views and 60,000 users in just six months. But its real impact lies in how it serves the community. The directory’s standout feature is its interactive map, which pinpoints every club in the UK and offers detailed subpages for affiliated clubs. These subpages allow clubs to showcase their facilities, events, and future plans, making it easier for players to connect and engage.
“We’ve had a number of centers or clubs come to us and say people have attended their coaching sessions or leagues because they found out through the directory,” George shared. “Sometimes a club’s website may be harder to find or in a different place, but with the directory, we ensure that everything is easy to find and convenient.”
The platform also goes beyond player needs, offering tailored support for businesses. “We’re building a strong package of partners where we can give clubs advice on planning permission, energy bills, or website development,” George said. “It’s very important that the clubs operate in the right way because they’re expensive, and we don’t want them to just last a couple of years.”
What sets the Padel Directory apart is its impartiality. “We ensure we keep an impartial tone, so we don’t work closer with one particular brand or club than another,” George emphasized. “We want to work with everyone on the same page.”
With such a strong foundation, the Padel Directory is now gearing up for its most ambitious project yet: launching in the United States. In the next article, we explore how the platform plans to adapt to the U.S. market and what this expansion means for the future of padel.
