HEAD Padel has unveiled a limited edition collection in honor of Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe, a key figure in the popularization of Padel in Europe. Known for his influential role in establishing the sport, Prince Alfonso’s legacy is celebrated through this exclusive line, which combines elegance and top-tier performance.
The Prince Alfonso Collection
The collection features premium padel rackets and accessories that embody the spirit and style of Prince Alfonso. Each piece in the collection is designed with meticulous attention to detail, showcasing superior craftsmanship and innovative technology.
Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe was a close friend of Enrique Corcuera, the Mexican who serendipitously invented the padel. On one of his visits to Corcuera’s home, Hohenlohe encountered the new ‘padel’ court and was immediately captivated. This experience spurred his interest and led him to introduce Padel to Europe, significantly contributing to its rise in popularity.
Celebrating a Legacy
In the 1970s, Prince Alfonso introduced the sport to Spain by constructing the first padel courts at the Marbella Club, a luxury resort he founded, a place frequented by royalty and celebrities. At that time, movie stars like Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Kim Novak, James Stewart, and Sean Connery stayed there, as well as members of European aristocracy: Juan Carlos I, Grace Kelly, and the kings of Sweden. His efforts significantly boosted Padel’s visibility and popularity, making it one of the fastest-growing sports in the region. Prince Alfonso’s vision and passion for padel laid the foundation for its widespread appeal and development across Europe.
The limited edition collection is now available, offering padel enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of history and honor a true legend of the sport.
