In an exciting development for women in racquet sports, Off the Wall Consulting is set to host the inaugural Femme Open USA event in Houston on December 6-7 at the Tempo Padel and Pickleball Club. Aimed at connecting and inspiring women through sports, the event welcomes players of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned competitors, to engage in padel and pickleball in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The Femme Open kicks off with a pre-tournament gathering on Friday evening, December 6, from 6:00–9:00 p.m. Participants can mingle, learn from professional players during open play, and attend a Women in Leadership panel. The competition begins the following morning at 9:00 a.m., with 24 teams competing in padel and 24 teams in pickleball. The event will culminate in crowning the first Femme Open USA champions.
“Getting out on the court is such a beautiful way to connect with others, make new friends, socialize, and embrace a healthy, active lifestyle,” said Bianca Vanrell, owner of Femme Open USA and Off the Wall Consulting. “Our goal is to bring women together, not just to play but to share meaningful experiences through sport across the U.S.”
Building a Community Around Padel and Pickleball
The Femme Open USA is more than a tournament; it’s a celebration of community, inclusivity, and fun. Organized by Off the Wall Consulting’s dynamic team of Vanrell and Steve Long, the event seeks to foster growth in both padel and pickleball while offering women a platform to connect and thrive.
Sponsors for the Houston event include Off the Wall, Wakit Shop, Electrolite, Senda Athletics, Phantom Pickleball, Risewell, Short Court, and WePurePatch, underscoring the growing momentum behind this initiative.
The event is also inspired by the success of Femme, the international women’s sports network founded in Sweden in 2018. With over 10,000 women participating worldwide in padel, tennis, golf, health, and lifestyle activities, Femme has established a global presence with events in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia. Now, Femme Open USA is bringing this legacy to American shores.
Looking Ahead to 2025 and Beyond
The Houston tournament marks the first step in Femme Open USA’s ambitious plan to expand nationwide. A 2025–2026 tour will see similar events hosted in key markets across the United States, further uniting and empowering women through sports.
Recognizing the rise of pickleball and its convergence with padel in U.S. sporting facilities, Femme Open USA has seamlessly integrated both sports into its platform. “We believe anyone can learn and fall in love with these games, and we’re here to make that opportunity available,” added Vanrell. “It’s not just about competing; it’s about coming together and having an amazing time.”
