In an incredible display of resilience, father and son duo, Jim and Milo Dundas, recently completed an 18-hour padel tennis marathon at Padel4All’s center in Swindon. Their remarkable feat not only showcased their impressive sporting skills but also raised a whopping £35,700 for the charity Crohn’s and Colitis UK.
Inspired by Personal Journey
The inspiration behind this extraordinary challenge was deeply personal. Milo Dundas was diagnosed with Crohn’s, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease, in 2015. His older sister, Poppy, was also diagnosed with ulcerative colitis last year. Despite the challenges they faced, the Dundas family remained remarkably positive. Their determination to raise awareness and funds for Crohn’s and Colitis UK led them to embark on this monumental padel tennis marathon.
Padel Tennis: More than Just a Sport
Choosing Padel tennis for their marathon was a strategic decision. Padel tennis is not only a highly inclusive sport but also incredibly sociable, making it accessible to players of all ages. The duo engaged in a non-stop, action-packed day, playing against various opponents from 6 AM until midnight. Throughout the marathon, they played a total of 469 games, emerging victorious in 434 of them.
“When we first heard the Dundas family’s story and the challenge they had set themselves, we were astonished, yet enthusiastic to provide them with everything they needed to accomplish their goal,” said Luke Bedwell
Community Support and Gratitude
Jim Dundas expressed his profound gratitude, stating, “Words cannot express how proud I am of my son Milo and the accomplishment we have achieved together. We are so grateful for the overwhelming support we have received from the local community, the Padel4All team, and all charities involved. We hope our efforts go a long way in supporting Crohn’s and Colitis UK’s mission to change lives for the better.”
Padel4All: Fostering Talent and Dedication
Luke Bedwell, the Center Manager at Padel4All Swindon, was equally amazed by the Dundas family’s determination. He shared, “When we first heard the Dundas family’s story and the challenge they had set themselves, we were astonished, yet enthusiastic to provide them with everything they needed to accomplish their goal. It was such a pleasure to host the 18-hour padel marathon at our Swindon center, where the pair and many others had the opportunity to showcase their incredible talent and devotion. The Padel4All team looks forward to seeing how the funds raised support the continuous efforts of Crohn’s & Colitis UK.”
The Dundas family’s feat not only highlighted their sporting prowess but also demonstrated the power of dedication and community support, making a significant impact on the lives of those affected by Crohn’s and colitis. Their journey serves as an inspiring example of what can be achieved through determination and passion for a worthy cause.
