The 2025 Reserve Cup Miami delivered an unforgettable weekend of world-class padel, star power, and charitable giving, as Derek Jeter, Jimmy Butler, Zac Efron, and a host of elite athletes and celebrities gathered to celebrate the sport’s growing presence in the U.S. The event, held from January 23–25 at Reserve Miami Seaplane, showcased some of the best padel action on American soil, culminating in a thrilling finale with Team Miami, led by comedian Andrew Schulz, taking the championship title over Team Reserve, captained by Jeter.

Jeter, the legendary New York Yankees captain, attended the tournament’s first two days before his wife, Hannah Jeter, joined him for the final night on January 25. The couple, seated near Hollywood actor Zac Efron, enjoyed the exhilarating matches while keeping things low-key. “The couple looked to be having a great time and laughing a lot,” a source told Newsweek. “They were very low-key but everyone noticed the famed Yankee and his beautiful wife.”

Efron, meanwhile, was “fully engaged and cheering throughout the matches” and reportedly showed keen interest in learning more about the sport. He opted for an understated look, wearing a beanie and sweatshirt in an attempt to stay under the radar.

The Jeters and Efron weren’t the only high-profile guests in attendance. San Francisco 49ers defensive star Nick Bosa, soccer icon Paul Pogba, and actress Claire Holt were among those spotted in the VIP suite, adding to the tournament’s electric atmosphere.

Jeter wasn’t just a spectator—he stepped into a familiar leadership role, captaining Team Reserve against Schulz’s Team Miami in the tournament’s unique elite team format. Each squad featured 16 of the world’s top-ranked padel players, battling over three days of intense competition. Ultimately, Team Miami clinched the title, defeating Team Reserve in the championship match.

Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler, a major force behind padel’s rise in the U.S., also played a key role as co-chair of the event and co-captain of Team Miami. “Padel is fantastic for the city, which I care deeply about,” Butler said, before joking: “It also allows me another platform to showcase what I excel at.”

Beyond the thrilling matches and celebrity appearances, Reserve Cup Miami made a significant impact off the court. Through Butler’s participation, the Reserve Cares charity donated $600,000 to local Miami charities, reinforcing the event’s commitment to supporting the community while elevating padel’s profile in the U.S.

With stars from sports, Hollywood, and entertainment rallying behind the sport, the Reserve Cup Miami has solidified itself as a marquee event on the American padel calendar. As the sport continues to gain traction across the country, the 2025 edition showcased not just its competitive appeal, but its potential to attract high-profile names, major investment, and a growing fan base.
