Exciting developments are underway as Cushman & Wakefield secures a 30,000-square-foot building at 219 N. Paulina St. for Padel Chicago LLC, marking the establishment of the city’s first-ever padel club. This significant milestone, set to elevate the local sports scene, comes through the collaborative efforts of Lakeshore Sport & Fitness (LSF) and venture capital investor Fabian Gosselin.
A New Home for Padel in Chicago
The new padel facility, located just outside the bustling Fulton Market District, promises to be a game-changer for racket sports enthusiasts in Chicago. The 30,000-square-foot space will house state-of-the-art indoor padel courts, making it a premier destination for padel players of all levels. Chip Evans from Cushman & Wakefield played a pivotal role in the lease negotiations, representing the main investors in discussions with Walnut Street Properties, the building owner.
Visionary Leadership
Lakeshore Sport & Fitness, known for operating large, multi-sport facilities featuring tennis, pickleball, racquetball, squash, swimming, and basketball, is leading the charge in bringing padel to Chicago. Fabian Gosselin, a key investor with a background in global hospitality and restaurant management, expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “With strong interest in areas like New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Texas, and Florida, we believe Chicago is perfectly poised for further growth,” said Gosselin.
Ideal Location
The choice of 219 N. Paulina St. in the West Loop near Fulton Market is strategic, offering accessibility and convenience for the city’s residents. “With its location in the West Loop and near Fulton Market, 219 N. Paulina Street is ideal for Padel Chicago’s first location in the city,” said Evans, Director in Cushman & Wakefield’s Chicago office. The central location is expected to attract a diverse crowd, from seasoned padel players to newcomers eager to try the sport.
Vision For The Future
Set to open in 2025, the Padel Chicago LLC location is poised to become a hub for the rapidly growing padel community in Chicago. This venture aligns with the broader trend of increasing popularity for padel across the United States, particularly in urban centers with a high demand for innovative sports facilities. With the backing of Lakeshore Sport & Fitness and the expertise of Cushman & Wakefield, the future looks bright for padel in the Windy City.
