Two-time heavyweight boxing world champion Anthony Joshua has joined forces with tennis legend Andy Murray as co-owner of Team AD/vantage, the defending champions of the Hexagon Cup.

This exciting announcement comes just weeks before the second edition of the Hexagon Cup kicks off in Madrid from January 29 to February 2, 2025. Joshua will join Murray, former coach Dani Vallverdú, and businessman Arran Yentob in leading the British-owned team.

“The growth of padel as an international sport has been really impressive and interesting to watch, so getting the chance to join Andy and the rest of the ownership team was an opportunity I had to take,” Joshua shared. “I am looking forward to supporting the team as they defend their Hexagon Cup title in Madrid and as they continue to grow and develop.”

Team AD/vantage’s leadership joins a roster of high-profile owners in the Hexagon Cup, including Eva Longoria, Leo Messi, Sergio Agüero, Robert Lewandowski, Pierre Gasly, and the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar. The addition of Anthony Joshua, an Olympic gold medalist and global sports icon, marks a significant milestone for the sport and reinforces the growing cultural appeal of padel, particularly in the UK, where over 5,000 hours of padel are played daily across 600 courts.

Andy Murray welcomed Joshua’s involvement, saying, “Having Anthony join Arran, Dani, and me on the team leadership is a huge win for us and provides us with momentum as we seek to defend our title in Madrid.”

Arran Yentob echoed the sentiment, noting Joshua’s value to the team: “He embodies the qualities we value so highly as a team. His experience can help us build on our recent success and further unlock the sport’s potential, bringing a new set of players to the court.”

Team AD/vantage is set to defend their title with an impressive lineup of players:

  • Men’s Pair: Martín di Nenno and Juan Tello
  • Women’s Pair: Delfi Brea and Sofia Araujo
  • Next Gen Female Pair: Martina Calvo and Marta Borrero

This year’s Hexagon Cup will spotlight young female talent in the Next Gen category, reinforcing the competition’s commitment to advancing the future of global padel.

With Joshua’s star power and the team’s stellar roster, Team AD/vantage is poised to make waves on and off the court as they compete for another Hexagon Cup championship.
