Austin, Texas is buzzing with excitement as the United States Padel Association (USPA) gears up for a thrilling adventure across the pond. They’re heading to La Nucía, Alicante, Spain, for the FIP Senior World Championships happening April 15th to 20th, 2024. This isn’t just any tournament; following a blockbuster event in Las Vegas, Nevada, this championship is all set to turn the heat up on the global Padel scene.
La Nucía’s selection as the battleground is a nod to Padel’s skyrocketing popularity and its Spanish roots. The USPA is on a mission to assemble a dream team, pulling together players who’ve shone brightly in the USPA Chosen Foods Circuit. It’s all about bringing their A-game, sportsmanship, and, let’s not forget, that unique American flair to the European Padel courts.
USPA President Martin Sweeney couldn’t hide his excitement, saying, “The FIP Senior World Championships in Alicante represent a fantastic opportunity for Team USA to showcase the talent and passion for padel that exists within the United States.” He’s thankful for the backing from national team sponsors Padel Lux, Padel Haus, and Van Eck, who are just as pumped about putting American Padel on the map. Sweeney added, “We look forward to competing against the best in the world and making our mark in this esteemed tournament.”
With the Padel Federation of the Valencian Community (FPCV) cheering from the sidelines, and full support from the Spanish Padel Federation (FEP) and the International Padel Federation (FIP), this event is more than just a tournament. It’s a celebration of Padel legends and the sport’s rich heritage.
The USPA is buzzing with anticipation for the team announcements and is all in on supporting Team USA as they gear up for this international spectacle. Keep an eye out for more details coming soon.
